TRUE STORY:
I remember my mother getting a phone call in the early 90's from
California. This person was looking for a man with my father's
name, but certainly not his occupation. They asked where he was and
she told them he was in "the shop". To which they responded, "you
mean the studio?" There were a few moments of confusion and then my
mother asked what number they were calling. "Yup, that's this
number." More uncertainty followed as she tried to wrestle with the
fact that the name and the number matched, but this person was
obviously not looking for my father as they were calling from "the
production studio... in Hollywood". Then my mother asked, "what
area code are you calling?" They said "714". "Oh, that explains it,
this is "414" my mom says.
While it is not uncommon to have identical active phone numbers
with different area codes, what are the odds that the owners of
those 2 numbers (which differ by a single area code digit adjacent
to each other on a phone keypad and therefore easily misdialed)
would have the EXACT same name! The guy they were looking for, as
it turns out, is a famous Hollywood make-up artist married to
another well known personality who played alongside Carol, Tim, and
Harvey for many years.
I share my abbreviated name with my father, but not my full name. I
thought it would be interesting to see how many other me's
are out there with the 3 most used versions of my name, including
my father's.
I was surprised to discover a cult following of other me's out
there from female short-stops, mid-century cattle ranchers, art
teachers and urologists to CEO's, foreign embassy representatives
and even pro-football players.
Here are some of my other interesting personalities:
A: There's a Cold Case detective
me from Little Rock.
B: There's a model me and boy
don't I look good in the buff!
C: (+2) There's the make-up artist
me that I mention above.
D: (•2•2) There's a
linebacker me, No 52, with a promising career ahead.
E: And, there's a defensive back
me, No 28, with a promising career ahead as well.
F: (+2) There's a guitarist me and
I have to admit, I sound pretty good.
G: (+2+2) And another guitarist me
who's sound is a bit "bluesier" than the other, but equally
talented.
H: (+2) And finally, my favorite me, a San Fransisco entrepreneur
that likes making paper airplanes.
Your job is to match me with my personalities. That will yield
final coordinates - with some slight math modifications of course.
You may also elect to perform a search of your own cult following
and provide a brief description of one or more members. You can be
quite vague in your description if you wish to keep your identity
hidden. For example, you could say "I found cult members wrestling,
teaching physics and acting on Broadway".
The tool below is just a begining point to see how many members are
in your cult. The fun part is looking up some of the members to see
what they do for a living.
UPDATE: 10.11.09 Moved final due
to change of previous hide spot.
