Geocache Description:

Well I'm at it again
Wondering aimlessly around the moors, but this time in good company
This time tackling Oswaldtwistle moor, Haslingden moor, Hare clough and Edgerton moss to Pike lowe. Bringing you to the area of Haslingden Grane.

Haslingden Grane lies in the north-east corner of the West Pennine Moors, with good road access along the B6232 from both the M65 motorway at Blackburn, and the towns of the Rossendale Valley.

The Grane valley has an intriguing air of desolation which still haunts the many ruined farmsteads, which were abandoned when the reservoirs were built to supply drinking water to the growing industrial towns.

Today the picturesque reservoirs of Calf Hey, Ogden and Holden Wood and the surrounding moorland offer visitors some excellent walking routes. Clough Head information centre is open throughout the year, with a permanent exhibition on the local and natural history of the area, ideas for other places to visit in the West Pennine Moors and an insight into the water business. Refreshments are also available.

The recreation site facilities available at Haslingden Grane include:

* toilets
* picnic area
* dogs allowed
* restaurant/ takeaway food
* wheelchair friendly - Calf Hey trail suitable for assisted wheelchair users
* car parking
* disabled toilet facilities available (RADAR key)
