This cache is dedicated to our late dog 'Merlin', a very friendly, playful and slightly nutty, flat coated retriever who passed away in October due to cancer. Miraculously, he had survived an operation to remove a 10kg (yes, 22lbs!) tumour and enjoyed another few months of normal life before, sadly, the cancer took hold elsewhere. He would have been 9 today.
The cache is located just off a rough track, close to the coastal footpath at an intersection with another footpath. There are fine panoramic views of coast and countryside and it on these fields that Merlin walked almost every day of his life. We can see the cache location from our home (albeit nearly half a mile away) so thought this spot would make a fitting memorial to a much loved and missed family member.
Cache situated courtesy of and with the permission of, The National Trust.
