Geocache Description:

This is a small camo spice container, room for a log and very small trade items. Use stealth mode because it could be lots of muggles at times. Please put cache back just like you find it. While you are here, take time to walk around the Depot and read the historical signs.

Branchville is located in the lower part of Orangeburg County. The first settlement was an old indian trail which split in the present day Branchville. Branchville is famous for having the world's oldest railroad junction. Today the train depot is a museum. Back when the depot was in use, three presidents stopped by the depot and ate at the dining room. The presidents were William H. Taft, William McKinley and Teddy Roosevelt. Today, the dining room is a restaraunt called Eatery at the Depot. Each year Branchville celebrates its railroad history by holding a Raylrode Daze Festival. This is usually held the last full weedend in September. The first festival was back in 1969. On March 15, 2008 , a tornado hit Branchville. It destroyed Town Hall, the old Branchville High School Gym and The Churn and damaged several other buildings. The Churn was recently rebuilt and is nearby if you want a bite to eat, they are famous for their ice cream.
