Permission for being here at night has
been granted by The Shelton Land Trust Conservation, Inc. Please
observe any posted
rules.. |
PLEASE PRINT(Click here) THE PARKING PERMIT: before
doing anything else.
Approach to the Parking Area is via Village Rd, which has a
long steep decent, so be careful in snow or ice conditions. Parking
is in a quiet residential neighborhood, strange cars will be
noticed. A land trust member lives near the parking area so please
be on your best behavior
CO ORDINATES LISTED ABOVE ARE FOR PARKING AND THE START. Do
not try this at home or in daylight you will get lost.
PUT YOUR PARKING PERMIT in your
windshield (see link above) AND RESPECT
the RESIDENCES close by. Be as quiet as possible
until you are in the woods.
Maps and Infomation Links : This cache will take you on to
property of The Shelton Land
ConservationTrust Inc. Specifically the section know as
The Tahmore
Section.
Because Cachemas has given me nightmares over the years, I have
decided to give you one. This should take about an hour plus under
normal circumstances, But hopefully you will get lost, your
batteries will die in both your GPS and flashlights. If this
happens call Santa JamM Claus at 1 800 GOT LOST.
And now to start your folly: At the parking coordinates, there's
a break between the stone wall, from there look for the 1st
glint...take red trail in, then take a right onto the white blazed
trail and look for more glints. If you continue straight, you'll
walk ALONG the SIDE OF some private property with signs that say
the owner wants to shoot you! As Elmer Fudd would say “ Be very
very quiet.” and back track to get back on course.
A hiking stick is recommended (to mark your grave if necessary).
The trail can be VERY slippery underfoot if lots of leaves are
exposed. Ice and snow will have the same affect and increase the
terrain rating up a notch. There is a steam crossing which could be
interesting if it is flowing after rain. Wear proper footwear. A
special prize awaits the first few finders.
This is the eighth in the series of caches “The Grinch Who Stole
of CACHEMAS”. For each of the 13 days beginning Cachemas Eve a new
cache is released. In addition to the winter friendly fun each
cache contains a clue to the coordinates for a final prize cache
where a stolen gift is waiting for you. All the caches in this
series are snow friendly or try to be and mostly family oriented
with terrain and difficulty no more than 2.5 mostly due to short
inclines on some.
DO NOT FORGET YOUR CLUE.
