Geocache Description:

A Cache hidden along a nature trail at Jay Blanchard Park. The coordinates above are SUGGESTED PARKING. You'll need to chase down a few clues to find the actual cache coordinates.

This is great park to walk the dog, run, bicycle, roller blade, fish, etc. There are nice playgrounds for kids plus tennis courts and sports fields. The Blanchard Park YMCA Family Center is also located here. Just North of the "Y" is a wooded area with a system of nature trails. That's where this cache is hidden.

Generally this will not be hard to reach though it might be soggy in wet weather.

Regarding placing caches in Orange County Parks - you need to apply for a permit to place a catch. These are short one-page forms and can be obtained at the park office. They will also give you a copy of the geocaching regulations. The permit is good for one year and then you must apply for a renewal. I have applied to place caches in five different Orange County parks and obtained approval without any problem.

Thanks to Winston at the park office for his friendly and helpful assistance.

Note that this park closes at night. Hours of Operation: Summer: 8 a.m.- 8 p.m.; Winter: 8 a.m.- 6 p.m.; Monday - Sunday

Original contents include a DIY CITO kit and a DIY Micro Cache kit. Plus an assortment of key chains, including some of my "trademark" foreign coin key chains, and misc items.

Finding the cache...

The cache is located at the following coordinates:
North Lat 28° 34.ABC’
West Lon 81° 13.DEF’

Go to the waypoints listed and find clues to help you fill in the missing information. Note: If the clue gives you a letter, convert it to a number using a=1, b=2, c=3, etc.

First Clue (N28° 34.777’ W81° 14.242’) Notice the metal structure here. What would you park here? Convert the letters of the word to numbers. The third number minus the fifth number gives you coordinate "B". The first number is the coordinate "C"

Second Clue (N28° 34.824’ W81° 14.151’) In Loving Memory of … Find the sixth letter of the first name. Convert this to a number to give you coordinate “F”

Third Clue (N28° 34.913’ W81° 13.915’) Notice four interesting old machines behind the fence. Rodney made these machines. Rodney who? Take the first letter of the last name and convert it to a number then add 1. This will give you the coordinate “A”

Fourth Clue (N28° 34.818’ W81° 13.900’)What game is played here? Convert the second letter to a number then add 2. This will give you coordinate “D”

Fifth Clue (N28° 34.844’ W81° 13.742’) Rotary International. Bottom (first) row of bricks, 2nd brick from the right, first letter of the fourth word. Convert this letter into a number to give you coordinate “E”.

My gps was giving an accuracy of +/- 12 feet. So the hint may help you zero in on this cache.

Enjoy!
