This is another in the series of caches placed by the Vice-chairman of West Bromwich Mountaineering Club on one of the regular visits that the club makes to the hills.
All the main summits of the Brecon Beacons have geocaches on or very near them but the eastern-most area has none. This cache was placed on the December 2008 WBMC coach meet to rectify the situation. This date saw a record 78 members travelled in 2 coaches for the annual "thrash" over the Brecon tops from Pencelli to the car park just SE of Storey Arms. Most walkers were sporting festive headgear and we even had a couple of fully-garbed Santas who gave out sweets to any children and adults we encountered. We then all adjourned to the Tai'r Bull Inn at Libanus to sample some real ales. It is a long, long plod up the footpath that heads SW from the Pencelli to the crest of the ridge, so this cache is intended to give geocaching walkers attempting the traverse something to look forward to before hitting the spectacular summits further west. It may not be available in winter if the snow is deep but the minor hill top is fairly windswept so will hopefully be clear of snow most months. The cache was originally a 35 mm cannister but some kind soul replaced it with a small plastic box that can now take small trackables. Initially it contained a "Horrid Henry" pathtag which does not show on the cache inventory as it is tracked at www.pathtags.com MANY THANKS INDEED TO FANDANCE FOR HELPING WITH THE MAINTENANCE OF THIS CACHE IN 2011 & NIAJK FOR REPLACING THE CONTAINER IN SEPTEMBER 2019
