Geocache Description:

The 'show' is the fabulous 360 degree panoramic views of the border hills.

Bronze and Iron age people got here first - there is a Bronze Age burial cairn on the summit near the trig point and an Iron Age Fort on the saddle of the hill, the clearest views are from above. The Meldon hills are very popular in the summer months and very peaceful in the winter. We had planned to set this cache and its sister on the same day but due to a light dusting of snow the descent from the first cache was very difficult due to the slippery slopes and steep gradient, so we left this one for a better day - therefore I would not recommended tackling these caches in wintery conditions without walking poles or crampons. This cache had to be moved from the summit as it was within the fort, now lower and could be reached without visiting the summit - but I would recommend this as the view is well worth the climb. This cache, and its sister Black Meldon, could be tackled along with GC11K5M Harehope Rings, the site of which can be seen from the summit of either hill.
