Geocache Description:

This poor road was a victim to the I-485. Everyone liked it and it was a nice road - it's life cut short to make way for the fancy multi-lane Interstate Highway we call I-485. We remember it now and have placed a cache it's memory.

Some early history of the I-485: Road work started as early as 1990 at the junction of the I-77. The first section (1.3miles) was completed and opened on November 1st, 1990, running between the US 521 and NC 51. October 24th, 1993 saw another 2 miles stretch completed running from I-77 to US 521.

For more step by step history of our 'beloved' I-485 - check out this link - History of the I-485 To see estimated completion dates go here - Estimated Completion of I-485 (you will need Acrobat Reader)

Feel free to find other victim's and place a cache in it's memory. While we have the chance we should stop any further victims - It's got to STOP!

Oh yeah - nice christmasy FTF prize! Well done jbrammer on the FTF - enjoy the ornament!
