Geocache Description:

A small screwtop container located on Brownhills Common, close to a path from a metalled road. Not wheelchair friendly I'm afraid as the paths can be very muddy.. (22/09/09) I upped the Terrain to 3 as there has been a lot of new growth and I had to blaze a trail to the GZ.

Brownhills Common is a fine example of lowland heath. You'll find it in the north of the borough, separated from Chasewater by the A5. Car parking is available off the Parade, adjacent to Holland Park or in the Coppice Lane lay-by.

Amongst its 100 acres you may discover birds like siskin, goldcrest, sparrowhawk and whitethroat. You may be very lucky and see a short-eared owl. There are wild flowers growing here that can only be found on heathland. It's also home to common lizards, butterflies, dragonflies and mammals.

The co-ordinates are for a lay-by on Coppice Lane, Brownhills, close to the cache site. The co-ordinates can be found by solving the puzzle below. The cache is a camouflaged screwtop drink container. If you are quiet, and early enough, you may see some reindeer, well deer anyway!

Santa’s reindeer are a noisy bunch. But each of the sixteen of them makes a different combination of noises so Santa can tell them apart in the dark. There are sixteen reindeer corresponding to the numbers 1 to 16. Below you can see the name of each reindeer and the noises it makes. For example, Rudolph goes “whinney, humph, snort, jangle, sniffle”.
Each noise corresponds to a different mathematical property.
These are:
prime number
square number
multiple of 3
multiple of 5
multiple of 10
factor of 24
less than 10
less than 12
As well as these, each reindeer jingles or jangles, but not both. Which reindeer goes with which number?
