STOP! Get back out of your car and
read on.
Although this may be published now, if
you go to the caches before Boxing Day you will find nothing but
empty boxes!
I was looking to find a nice series to do for a Boxing Day walk.
I soon realised that I would have to drive several miles to find
one that I hadn't already done. I then thought that a lot of us
Sussex cachers might also be in a similar position, so I came up
with the idea of the redirected male Boxing Day Walk.
The caches will not be available until Boxing Day hence the
Boxing Day Walk. Are you following? So, although this is published
(hopefully), all you FTF hounds (tarts) will have to restrain
yourselves for the time being. I will be going out late on
Christmas Day evening, to add the logbooks etc. The idea being that
everyone has a fair and equal opportunity to go out and pick these
up.
I have situated the caches in the mid-Sussex area, to give
everyone from both sides of the border the chance to do them. The
walk is not too far, about 3.25 miles, centred around
Plumpton
Place The house is designed by
Edward
Lutyens and the gardens by
Gertrude
Jeckyll. It was once owned by some bloke called
Jimmy Page
who you may have heard of. Apparently he's quite good on the
guitar!
I estimate the whole walk should take you about one and a half to
two hours. A lot of it is over farm land though so it can get a
little muddy in places, although it's far from the worst I've ever
seen. Please wear the appropriate footwear. You have been
warned.
There are 12 caches that are all cliplock boxes, apart from one
micro. There is no bonus to worry about.
There are no swapsies but there are some brightly wrapped
chocolate incentives in each box. Feel free to give and take as
appropriate.
There is parking available around the The Half Moon pub.
Refreshments can be obtained from there also, it goes without
saying.
If you intend to do the series and fancy a bit of company why
not register your intentions and what time you intend to set off.
The more the merrier as they say.
Have fun, and a happy new year to all of
you!
