Geocache Description:

Galgorm lies to the north-west of Ballymena and is a well known area.

Ballymena Borough Council has developed a surfaced public footpath and bridleway between Galgorm Manor Hotel and Cullybackey, passing Galgorm Wood. This has been made possible by means of an agreement between the council and the proprieter of the Hotel. Full details are displayed on the sign and map at N54.52.727, W 006.20.925

Galgorm Manor leased the land for Galgorm Wood to the Woodland Trust for 25 years as one of the 50 Woods On Your Doorstep (WoyD) sites in Northern Ireland. Formerly overgrown with laurel, this lease has enabled the Woodland Trust to restore the woodland and pond habitats and to develop public access routes through the site'

The cache, although not in the wood, lies close to a main path and some superb large beech trees. It is in a small clip type box covered in green duck tape with a Geocache sticker on the lid. Along with the logbook it contains a small selection of swaps.

Parking is available at N54.52.686, W 006.20.795. This is best approached from the Fenaghy Road using not the main entrance but the one for Gillies bar. Then walk to the sign, detailed above.
Alternatively for a longer walk park in Cullybackey at N 54.53.250, W 006.21.370 with Galgorm Wood being signposted from here. Either way there is a very pleasant walk on good footpaths along the east side of the river Maine with lots of wildlife to view.
