This cache is an easy find in Lumsden. There is a convenient car park and playground on the opposite side of the road to where this cache is located. The road is usually quiet, but take the usual care when crossing anyway.
This cache is a black painted 200ml snaplock container and has room for a log-book and small trading items.
PLEASE BRING OWN PEN/PENCIL.
Please place cache back carefully as this area has already been muggled.
The name of this cache refers to the original name for this town – a reference to the elbow-shaped bend in the Oreti River just north of here. Lumsden used to be a major railway junction, with lines running to Kingston to the North, Mossburn to the West, Invercargill to the South and Gore to the East. Although the railway no longer exists, the railway station and other relics of the by-gone railway era remain in the area.
