Click go the shears boys! (Waikato) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Butterfly_Lady: The gardeners seem to do an excellent job in the area of the statue, (and dispose of the box regularly) so it is time to put this one away. A wonderful garden directly across the road is worthy of a hide, so a new listing will be set up there next...

Geocache Description:

Te Kuiti is known as the Shearing Capital of the World. Past and present champions include Brian Quinn, David Fagan and Alan MacDonald who all learnt the skills of shearing in the region.

Did you know that there are 14 sheep for every New Zealander? Here in Te Kuiti you will find many facts related to sheep and shearing.....

AND

You will also find a huge statue of a sheep being shorn! Standing at 7 metres tall, it is the largest statue in the world celebrating shearing! At Easter each year Te Kuiti comes alive with the annual Shearing festival.

Cache is nearby the statue.

THIS HAS BEEN MUGGLED A FEW TIMES, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU RETURN IT WHERE IT BELONGS, OUT OF SIGHT UNDER THE TOP RAIL, NOT LOOSE IN THE GARDEN WHERE THE GARNERS GET IT.

After finding the cache, you may wish to wander over the road to the Tatsuno Japanese Garden.
