Two Hundred SeventyFifth in the Famous People (FP) Series -
Brothers and Sisters - The Baldwins
This is a series of caches located along
a trail throughout the 252 acre
Trinity River Greenbelt Riverbend Preserve. Each cache is a two
stage multi, dedicated to a famous Brother and/or Sister team. At
stage I, you will find the coordinates to the second and final
stage, but you will also be presented with a trivia question about
the famous pair. The answer will be revealed at the final.
There no puzzles to solve, the
redirectors are in every stage I and the coordinates are straight
forward to the next and final stage. Each final stage is located
very close to the first stage.
The sign at the entrance clearly states "You are starting
to hike into one of the few wilderness areas left in Dallas
County". For the most part, you will be hiking along the
top of the Trinity River levee. A clear trail winds its way along,
and the caches are all located just a short distance on either side
of the levee. Depending on the conditions, you may encounter water
crossings, likely see snakes and other wildlife (including deer,
alligators, beaver and wild hogs), run into thorns, and definately
come in contact with PI, PO and other undesireable vegetation. The
hike to the first 5 caches in this series is a little more than 3/4
miles from the parking area. Some steep terrain, plenty of briers
and other thorny fauna will keep you on your toes.
Every first stage is a camoed matchstick
container. Every second/final stage is a camoed decon container.
The Preserve is only open from 8:0 AM until sundown, so please
respect all the rules. Wilderness areas are sensitive and it is up
to us to protect them and keep them natural. The terrain will be
quite diverse depending on the season and the amount of recent
rains. Keep in mind that many of the stages are located inside the
levee and therefore are subject to flooding.
This is a spectacular wilderness area just a few miles south of the
Dallas area and worth every minute you can spend exploring it. Some
beautiful views and plenty of wildlife await your visit. Also bring
along your small trade items to share like a good brother and
sister always do.
