Geocache Description:

BIG BLACKSMITH, TRALEE TOWN PARK

This fine limestone sculpture, Draíocht an Gabha (Magic of the Blacksmith), near the entrance to the Siamsa Tíre Theatre is by the Sligo-born sculptor Fred Conlon (1944-2005), This work was executed by Fred in 1997 and captures the water and fire theme of the commission. The blacksmith representation was the sculptor's response to the brief and to Siamsa Tíre's theatrical performance Ding Dong Dedero, focusing on the art of the blacksmith, which greatly impressed him. This Cache is available at all times however it can be very busy so take care. It is very accessable on foot. Car Parking during week days can a problem. Wheelchairs can get very close but cache is off the path so a little help will be needed.
