Even though this area has TONS of lodgepole pines, we do not have any lodgepole chipmunks. They live in California. Chipmunks are not usually finicky eaters, but these guys will catch insects and toss away the head and legs for the abdomen. (The head is the best part, in my estimation—crunchy on the outside and gooey in the middle.)
They will also eat slugs, snails, birds eggs, small mice and frogs! My second-cousin told me he saw a lodgepole chipmunk eat a 2 foot long garter snake!
