Geocache Description:

This is a camoed vitamin bottle, placed to be accessible in all seasons. There’s room for small trade items such as geocoins, and a gold dollar for the FTF. Tree cover may interfere with your reception, so turn on your geosense as you search. Bring a pen to sign the waterproof log sheet.

Here’s a cache to take you up towards Prospect Mountain from a different direction, along its south side from the Lake George Recreation Center off of Luzerne Road, Rte. 9N. It’s a good route for a winter snowshoe walk and not as steep as the trail from LG Village.

Follow the ski trails to the north, then pick up the old tote roads that can take you up to the summit. You’ll be following Gage Brook for the first mile or so. The route is described on the ADK web site here - link. There’s a map of the ski trails at the parking lot before you start, but note that north is not up on it. Also, the ski trails are not well marked and can be very confusing to follow. If the conditions are suitable, there are 4 older caches along the ski trails to look for while you are here.

A map of the Rec Center ski trails is on the Lake George Village web site, at link. Click here for a map of our track along the southside route – link.

Congratulations to the 3 cachers who got out first on a cold morning (minus 8 overnight) to find these caches - RichardE for the FTF with LadybugNY, and then LG139 with a STFAR (Second To Find After RichardE).
