Geocache Description:

Number 15 in a series of 15 caches that contain clues to help solve Scrabble – Summer Holiday Fun (GC1KHY2). They can be done in any order.

Cache is not at the provided co-ordinates but it is the start point for the walk. Co-ordinates for most of the waypoints are provided.

Finding the cache requires about a 2500m walk along the path (up and back) that follows Venner Creek. There are also street access points along the path (AC, AN, AQ & AT). Beside the walk and the creek, there is a playground to stop at and an area large enough for a ball game. Bring your own water.

From the starting point walk about 60m and over to the left you should see the start of this section of the creek.

A = the number of round stormwater drains that feed into the creek from the north.

Back on the path and when you are about 90m from the start, you should be at a metal fence/railing on your right.

B = the number of vertical posts.

C = the first digit in the number painted on the concrete culvert on the south side of the path. It is now (july 2011) a bit hard to read. If you can't make out the number look behind you at the seat. C = the number of horizontal aluminium pieces that make up the back rest.

If you like, wander over to the creek to watch the ducks and turtles. (AV)

Keep following the path. When you are about 190m from the start, you should be at the beginning of a long fence between the path and the creek. Count the panels, they are about a metre wide.

DE = the number of panels.

After you have finished counting, keep walking. On your right you should soon see a besser brick retaining wall. Keep walking until you reach the end of it. This should be about 240m from the start. Note the braces holding the wall in position.

F = number of metal braces on the corner of the wall.

Keep walking. At about S 27 31.357 E 153 05.438, you should see a track heading off from the other side of the creek up a hill (AH). From the top you can see the lake formed from the old quarry (AX).

Back on path keep walking. At about 390m from the start, you should see a timber retaining wall.

G = how many timber sleepers high is the wall.

Keep following the path to the playground – about another 80m, almost 500m from the start.

H = second last digit on the city council identity tag in the form PE00xxxx on the Ausplay Gym.

I = the number of shade sails

J = number of swings

K = the number of rockers mounted on springs

L = number of horizontal, green, 1m long rungs on the climbing gym

M = number of large blue/green C (or D) -shaped handles on the climbing gym at the top of each red post.

N = number of basket ball rings

Find the manhole cover at

S 27 31 A,(F-J),(D-E) E 153 05.B,(K-N),(D+E+G)

OPQR = number on the manhole cover.

Follow the path. Find the golf ball at

S 27 31. I,2*(L-K),M E 153 05.(I+L),(R-Q-O),P

S = number on golf ball. (and if the golf ball is no where to be seen, look in the trees for the tags. (there are 2 of them) The tree in the photo gallery got blown over in the January 2013 storms as did quite a few others around here.

You should see a large stump about 18m east of the golf ball.

It is easy to spot the stump from the golf ball, not so easy in reverse.

At the stump, look for what's left of the black shoe. Note it's size. The other shoe hasn't stood the test of time. Note the number on the underside of the tongue.

T = number on the tongue (size)

Walk out to Bevan Street and cross bridge to northern side of creek. Next to the driveway for #16 is a light pole.

U = second digit from the top.

Back to path and keep walking to S27 31.193 E 153 05.561

V = number of vertical CCA posts.

About 35m farther on there is a children’s cubby house/fort. You should be able to see 3 shapes.

W = how many letters required to spell the middle shape.

Keep walking until you see an exit to Lambertia Cl. Find the green power box for #10 Lambertia Cl.

X = first digit of the number on the box.

Back to the path. Keep walking another 30m until you reach the end of the concrete path. Written on the timber retaining wall is a date.

Y = sum of all the digits from the date and then sum the digits from the resultant number.

The path is now dirt. Keep walking for another 70m. You should find a fence with some barbed wire at the top.

Z = number of strands of barbed wire.

Keep walking until you find the exit to Calliandra Pl. Find the light post.

AA = top digit from the number on the post.

Now go find the cache.

If its late you can continue along the path about 90m to the accommodation at the end of the path (AW) and then continue on to cross the creek and follow the fence line around to the right and come out on Pine Mountain Road.

Now go to the tree at this location where you will find another tag giving you the co-ordinates for the cache. Then add 0.008 to the South coords and 0.011 to the east coords from the tag.(new location as of 1 april 2013 and hopefully 1 that will not get washed away every time it rains.)

S 27 31 ((AA+X+V)-(T+W+U)),S,M E 153 05.H,(Y-Z),C

Note this AA refers to the number obtained at waypoint AT (Calliandra Pl)
