How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

The cache is an ammo box hidden behind some rocks along an abandoned road which is a former alignment of Highway 18 on the south end of Apple Valley Ridge. Be sure to bring your camera, there are some great views here.

Bonus Benchmark. After you find the cache, be sure to find the benchmark it was named after. DEMAC (EV2885) is a 1979 CDOH triangulation station consisting of 3 disks, the main disk DEMAC (the one that counts for a benchmark find), and 2 reference mark disks, DEMAC RM 1, and DEMAC RM 2. Additionally, just a few feet above, is a S.B. County Surveyor mark by a metal post. Try to find all 4. Don’t forget to log in your separate benchmark find at EV2885 .

Apple Valley Cache and Benchmark Series. Every cache in this series is within just a few feet of at least one historical benchmark. You can log in a find for the cache and log in a separate find for the benchmark. Be sure to find them all. Create a pocket query or download a Google Earth KLM file of this series.
