Geocache Description:

This is a 3 stage multi. At Stage 1 you will be counting floor boards and railing posts of a bridge. Using these numbers, you will be calculating a bearing and a distance to the location of stage 2. At Stage 2, you will find the coordinates to the Final cache container.

The Final cache container is a round 4"x4" Screw top style plastic container.

IT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA TO HUNT THIS ONE AT NIGHT!

The closest parking can be found at:
N 33 47.908 W 084 08.353

You will need a compass. Bring along a calculator if you are unable to perform basic math calculations on paper.

From the parking coordinates, cross the street and locate an unmarked trail head. This trail is a steep down hill grade so be careful. Once you are at the bottom and on the main trail, you will need to proceed across the earth dam until you approach a small bridge located at the posted coordinates. As you walk across the dam you will see Venable Lake on your right and Stone Mountain Lake on your left. Venable Lake was named for Sam Venable, who ran the granite quarry early in the 20th century. Notice the level differences between the two lakes. The bridge at the posted coordinates crosses a small cascading waterfall where water flows out of Venable Lake into the lower basin known as Stone Mountain Lake.

Stage 2 is the location of what use to be an interesting man made object located in the woods. The structure, which was once a zip line platform was taken down in 2019 with it's pieces thrown up the hill and behind a tree. The only thing left of the structure in it's original location are 2 pieces still mounted on a branch about 15 feet high off the ground. You will have to shoot a bearing and walk a certain distance to reach it from Stage 1.

To find stage 2 you must count the number of floor boards, including the small ones on each end of the bridge at stage 1. Now take that number and multiply it by 25. Now add 34 to that number. This will be distance in feet at which the object is located.

Now count the total number of vertical 4x4 posts that hold the 2 hand rails up on both sides of the bridge including the shorter ones at each end of the bridge. Now take that number and multiply it by 7. Now add 3 to that number. This will be the direction in degrees you will have to travel to reach stage 2

Stage 2 is located at:
(Number of boards * 25) + 34 feet
at (Number of posts * 7) + 3 degrees

The man made object at stage 2 was large and you could not miss it when it was there. As stated above, the only thing you will find now are 2 pieces of the structure still mounted on a tree branch about 15 feet off the ground. This is where you will find the coordinates to the final container.

PLEASE DO NOT POST ANYTHING IN YOUR LOG THAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED A HINT OR A SPOILER TO ANY OF THE STAGES IN THIS CACHE. THIS INCLUDES PHOTOS OF THE BRIDGE AND OBJECT AT STAGE 2.

THANK YOU FOR HELPING TO PRESERVE THE INTEGRITY OF THIS CACHE.
