Please do not cross the barbed wire fence to the Brick Chimney, the cache IS NOT hidden in the chimney, it is hidden just off the lane.
The cache is close to the site of the Old Castle Brick Works on Pinfold Lane in Northop Hall. The brick works was opened in 1886 by Mr Alletson and a group of Irish partners for the manufacture of refractory wear, later it was bought by John Summers to ensure a constant source of kiln lining bricks for the local steelworks at Shotton. The brick works had three chimneys bearing the name “Castle” down the upper length of its stacks. The brickworks closed in 1973 and all that is left now is one of the chimney stacks.
Congratulations to the Fly Fifers - that was a quick FTF - Log signed 40 minutes after cache published. Well Done.
