Geocache Description:

While I am not a big fan of small – hard to find caches in the wilderness, when I left the house this morning I had no plans of planting a cache. However, I routinely carry “maintenance equipment”: in the event I find a cache in need of help.

I had a nice caching day on 1/10/09 and found myself bushwhacking my way back to civilization. In addition, I had planned to eat lunch on the trail and was still looking for a nice spot to eat and rest. I am now sharing that hidden – remote location spot with the caching community.

The cache is an International Orange matchstick container. It has both a magnet (not needed or used) and cord glued to its side. (You never know what you are going to need to fix a cache). I have put a loop in the cord and hung the cache on a branch of a tree about six feet off the ground. The cache is clearly visible to all the wolves, pigs, turkeys and deer that wander by. Cachers should be able to see it to.

The coords should put you on a very comfortable fallen log in the heart of a grove of (I believe) Fir trees. If you are sitting on the log facing generally SSW the cache will be clearly visible on your left, hanging from a small branch – six feet off the ground. The coords are an average of 400 readings my GPS took while I ate my lunch and my GPS is telling me I was sitting about 970 feet above sea level. It’s a quiet an peaceful place but there are no panoramic views. Just trees.

I’m not worried about Muggles. Remember I found this location (grove) bushwhacking. There is no trail in and there is no trail out.

In addition to the log, the FTF will be rewarded with a nice crisp $5.00 – the only swag I had – so bring a pen.

Enjoy
