Geocache Description:

Hurst West #6 - Jabz Cave

Park at the parking waypoint and follow the
gpx route that you can download into your GPSr.

Jabz Cave is on the 1:25000 OS map. When you get there it is not the type of cave you would expect. I suspect Jabz is the corrupt form of Jabez.

Jabez is a forename meaning: Pain. In the Old Testament, Jabez was so named because he was borne by his mother in pain. Another Hebrew definition means born in sorrow.

There is record of a Jabez Raisbeck in Reeth, who was
a printer, stationer, bookseller and agent for the Darlington and Stockton Times in 1891. The 1881 census record indicates that he was born in Martindale, Yorkshire in 1828. Whether or not there is a direct link as some suggest, hasn't been proved. Raisbeck as a surname appears to be a local 'habitational' surname, as there are a number of Raisbecks in Yorkshire.
