Geocache Description:

Situated prominently on a high hill overlooking Stinson Creek and the original town of Fulton, the John Augustus Hockaday House exists as a significant historical and architectural landmark of that region of Missouri known as Little Dixie. In 1980, the Hockaday House was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The brick house has had numerous additions and alterations since its original construction in 1863. The north side of the lot is a large grassy area where several brick pillars remain as a reminder of days gone by. A park, given to the city of Fulton by the Hockaday family, is located beyond the property line to the northeast.

Memorial Park, also known as Hockaday Hill or Indian Park, is an 11.5 acre park. It houses a small shelter, restrooms and playground equipment. In the 1980’s, the Indian motif playground equipment included a metal teepee sculpture, a stagecoach, a climbing dome and swings that stood in the shade of a huge oak tree. The tree succumbed to the severe ice storm of December 2007 and was cut down the following summer. Playground equipment that stood under the tree was also removed and replaced with new equipment.

Although this can be a busy place, it is typically quiet. You are looking for a small container with only a log and pencil. Muggles are a possibility. Be sure to use stealth as you find and rehide this cache and please put it back as you found it. As always, please do not post spoiler information in your log so others may enjoy the hunt. Happy caching!

(I almost named this cache “Below Zero” as the temperature was a few degrees below 0 when I placed it.)

Congratulations to kmch123 for FTF!
