Geocache Description:

This cache brings you to The Will Scotland Memorial that has being placed here to celebrate the first sustained flight in the Wellington Region in 29th January 1914.


The aircraft arrived in Otaki from Wellington and was assemble. 3 days later they tried their first flight but the skid was caught in a rut and broke a spar. On the 29th January after repairs were completed they successfully flew around the field at five hundred feet circling the field for twenty minutes. Subsequent flights were abandon due to heavy rain and then the plane was later shipped to the South Island.


The cache is a 400ml camo screw top plastic container and when placed contained the following items
Logbook

Pencil
Plastic Spider
Rugby Card
Please hide the cache exactly where you found it as we dont want it to go missing. aplease make sure that you sign the logbook to ensure that your visit is valid otherwise your log may be deleted
