Geocache Description:

This cache is located in an undeveloped parcel of public land along the Stony Brook in Hopewell Township. Parking is limited on the side of the road. Please respect the nearby private property. You will find an unmarked trail in the woods.

This cache is small camouflaged lock & lock container, within sight from the right viewing angle. You do not need to cross the Brook to reach the cache and though located near the Brook, it is not likely to be affected by any floodwaters. Please replace the cache exactly as found. The cache was initially stocked with some small creatures, coin rolls, weekly anecdote cards, and a “she creature” magnet. There is also a “ticket” redeemable for a prize at the February 7 event cache Hot Cider and Donuts and Nature, Oh My (GC1KQAW).

Though this property is off the beaten path, it affords great protection of and intercourse with the Stony Brook. The Stony Brook is a beautiful 21-mile long tributary of the Millstone River that rolls off the Sourland Mountains of Hopewell and Amwell and courses through Hopewell Township, Pennington, Princeton Township and Princeton Borough before meeting the Millstone at Carnegie Lake. When setting this cache up we tracked a fox across the ice on the Brook. Notice the large sycamores brookside. During the warmer months this is a fine spot to fish though trout are no longer stocked in this area. Watch for kingfishers hunting for smaller fish as well. This land is preserved by the Delaware and Raritan Greenway Land Trust.
