The cache is at the rear entrance, which is open from 8am to
3.30pm. There are three ways to the cache (including through the
convent grounds when the rear gate is open). All involve a short
walk.
History
The Wurundjeri people lived here for thousands of years, living
off the plentiful resources of the Yarra river and surrounding
forests.
The first European on the scene was Charles Grimes in 1803 when
exploring up the river by boat. Very early in the settlement of
Melbourne in the 1830's, the area was used for farming, with the
adjacent Collingwood Children's Farm a reminder of those times. In
the 1860's a religious order, The Sisters Of Good Shepherd, took
the area and created the large complex that still survives
today.
It is well worth having a look around the old grounds and
buildings. After a sustained battle, they have become an important
community centre that houses many interesting businesses and
projects. There are two eateries and a bar should you wish to
linger around.
The Cache
The cache is a small clip-lock container. Its loction should be
immediately obvious when you arrive at gz, and your only problem
will be avoiding muggles. There are plenty of these at certain
times and you will need to be stealthy.
