Geocache Description:

Easy parking and short walk. Cache can handle small items..but you'll need to bring a pencil.

The country schools are a thing of the past...for the most part. Haig School is one of the schools that closed this 2008-09 season.
These country schools are not as necessary as they were when they were built. The Haig School property was donated by the Brown family to be used for a school for their neighborhood. The farm families wanted their children to go to school close to home. The school became the center of community activities for adults as well as the children. Most of time they went to the 8th grade. K-3 in one room, 4-5 in one room and 6-8 in what we called the big room. The county schools had alot of sports competition and good learning.
In this day and age...there are fewer family farms and people travel to town daily so.....the kids go to school in town, too
It's a goodbye to the one room country school....
