Rotoroa Ramble Revisited (Waikato) Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

The Freezer Mice: After the logged DNFs went for a quick check and the cache has gone... yet again!
Sorry folks but this one is now being archived.
There are plenty of good hiding spots along this section of Boardwalk, so hopefully a decent cache (not a 'throw out an old mint container' one which are seemingly popular these days) will take its place.

Geocache Description:

Consider this cache to be something of a revisiting... hence the cache name.

This cache is based upon the original "Rotoroa Ramble" (GCM5D5) (which was a traditional cache placed by Squeekybobo on the 27th of November 2004, and eventually archived on the 16th of November 2008), which was visited by 115 cachers.

The original cache happened to be one of the very first ones in Hamilton that TFM chose to tick off, and add to our found list.

The cache itself is located (just like the original) around the lake esplanade walk, and there are several access points close by which will allow you to get to it. But as per the original cache desciption "we would suggest you do a complete lap of the lake in order to be able to fully appreciate it".

As an aside there are now quite a number of other cache's (traditional's, multi's and wherigo's) in the near-by vicinty, so a visit to this area could result in quite a sucessful trip out.

Rotoroa History (acquired from the original listing).

The walkway itself cost $820,000 and was completed in three stages between October 2002 and February 2004.
Lake Rotoroa was formed about 15,000 years ago, when the Waikato River consisted of many channels across the Waikato.
Today, it is fed by stormwater, the Lake is relatively shallow with a mean depth of just 2.4m.
The lake's outflow is via a drain into the Waitawhiriwhiri Stream, which flows into the Waikato River.

The new cache is a 1 litre sistema (inside a TFM camo bag)... and IS NOT located at the listed co-ordinates.

In order to log a smiley for this cache you will simply need to find "Rotoroa Ramble".

Please be warned that this placement can subject to a very high level of muggle activity at all times of the day... and they will seemingly appear from nowhere!!!

The cache has already gone missing once as a result of cachers being 'caught' completing the formalities.

Please make sure to replace the cache so that it is back up out of sight on its perch.
