Geocache Description:

Inspired by "Over the hill and back again" - a cache hidden by Elvi5uk, and now archived.

When I began caching, Elvi5uk's were some of the very first caches I found. They may not have been the most brilliant of caches, but in the beginning almost every cache is somewhat "magical". Given the paucity of caches near where we live, I felt the urge to resurrect Elvi5uk's archived caches. In most cases, they have received a wee tweak, and once the Elvi5 series has been completed, there is a brand, spanking new (bonus) cache to find.

The hill in question is called Cherry Hill, and the road you have parked on (if you've parked at the suggested co-ordinates) is known as Cherry Hill Road. Cherry Hill lies on calcareous soils at the southern edge of Breckland. The soil is a typical flinty, Breckland sand with fragments of chalk. Just as the name of the orginal cache suggests, you will be walking over the hill and back again.

If it wasn't for the road noise from the A11 this would be a far more pleasant walk than it is - but it is worthwhile, particularly on a fine day when you can see all the way to Ely Cathedral. However, even when it is pouring with rain (as it was the day I set the cache) there are still things to see.

Your chances of seeing deer are very good, and had I had my camera with me there probably would have been a photo of the dozen or so deer I startled as I wandered into their midst. They looked like very large rabbits as they dashed away with their white posteriors bobbing up and down. Cherry Hill is spectacular when poppies are in season, and flowering all along the side of Cherry Hill Road.

Your first waypoint is along the road, where you will find a marker near the first waypoint of the original cache. I'd advise not entering the building, as no matter how often it is cleaned, rubbish seems to accumulate there - and some of it not the sort of material for delicate eyes.

Remember this is a public footpath over private land, so please keep to the path. The landowner has given permission for this cache, but hopes you have the courtesy to respect his property, and stay off his fields.

To find the final co-ordinates you need to work out the following:

(FMQT-AGNR-TP)/(B+R)/TJ

This will give you XXX, from which you can complete the coordinates. XXX - CTH = YYY, and XXX + TJE = ZZZ.

Final co-ordinates are N 52° 19.YYY ' and E 000° 31. ZZZ '
