==============================================

"What do you make of this, Watson?"

"It looks like some child's scribbling" said I.

"Yes....." said Holmes, his voice trailing off as he contemplated several notes he had just received by special courier. "However, I suspect something much more sinister than a simple child's prank. Note the repetition of some of the symbols and the carefull drawing of each. No, Watson, these are messages of some sort."

"Have you any idea of what they mean?"

"Not yet. But given a bit of study, I'm sure they will give up their secrets. They were accompanied by this letter from a Mr. Hilton Cubitt. He's quite concerned, as his wife has been receiving these notes and she grows more terrified with the arrival of each."

I left Holmes to his work. I had a patient to call on and left our Baker Street digs for a couple of hours. Upon returning, Holmes jumped from his chair and exclaimed, "Hurry, Watson. There is foul play at hand and we must stop it!"

"But where are we headed, Holmes?"

"This last note gives us directions to where we will meet our prey, Mr. Abe Slaney."
