Helmshore Riverside Walk 2 is a small geocache located next to the footpath - that runs along the Ogden valley from Irwell Vale to Helmshore in the Rossendale Valley.
Helmshore is an attractive village located in the Rossendale valley. It has a textile museum, and is a good area for walking. The River Ogden- runs from this village to Irwell Vale. Irwell Vale is a small hamlet near where the Ogden joins the River Irwell. There is also an East Lancashire Railway station there. You would need to consult their website - or contact them for times of trains.
The River Ogden runs down a dramatic gorge from Helmshore, and is a nice place to walk. The cache is near the Irwell Vale end of the river's journey. You could combine it with others in the area - or just do it by itself.
Please note that further down stream from the cache site there are STEEP DROPS INTO THE RIVER- so please be careful - and children would need a close eye kept on them - it may be best to hold their hands. Further downstream from the cache site - there is not any wall - there is just a STEEP DROP.
The path can also be muddy and slippy - so please watch your footing.
There is no need to search for the cache along the river side of the path.
The path is not suitable for prams / wheelchairs or those with mobility problems - sorry.
The tree cover might mean that the GPS might lead you astray here. There is no need to stray far from the path.
