Spring has Sprung and it is Picnic time! Join us at St. Joe State
Park located in the heart of the old "Lead Belt" of southeast
Missouri where much of the nation's lead ore was extracted for more
than a century. In 1972, the St. Joe Minerals Corp. ceased
operations and subsequently donated the land to the state in 1976.
Today, the 8,238-acre St. Joe State Park is Missouri's third
largest state park.
There is currently only 1 small grill near the pavilion, so we will
need volunteers to bring some outdoor cooking apparatus. A bike is
recommended if you want to do the many caches that are being
planned for the trails in the park. FOOD
SLAGA will provide the meat, condiments,
plates, cups and utensils. We ask that you bring a side dish or
soda/ice to share. The prices will be Adults $5.00, kids 5-12 $2.00
and kids four and under are free. Please let us know if you can
attend by 4/01/09 so we know how much food to purchase.
SPEAKING OF FOOD---How about bringing a can or
two (or even more) to donate to a local food pantry. If each person
brought even one can we could make a big difference in the life of
those less fortunate.
I have had several people offer to help out with different tasks,
but I would appreciate an email to remind me of what you are
helping with.
