Geocache Description:

The above coordinates take you to the main carpark of Dibbinsdale Nature Reserve. The Senior Warden has given us permission to place this Geocache in the reserve.
You now have another reason to walk around the 32 Hectares (81.1 acres) of semi-natural countryside along the river valley of the Dibbin. There is a detailed map at the carpark, but I do advise taking your own from the link below.

Friends of Dibbinsdale web site. The range of different habitats in the reserve make Dibbinsdale a place of outstanding natural beauty.
Features of the river Dibbin.

This link gives you the interesting history of Brotherton Park and Dibbinsdale Nature Reserve. If you DO download the Heritage Trail map, you will find your walk around this lovely area more rewarding.
There is so much to see, it is worth spending a few hours wandering along the trails, whilst visiting the two waypoints below.

Twin Ebony - near No 5 on the map Willow Carr.
From the viewpoint on Spital Field can be seen the spread of this wet woodlands. Crack willows and goat willows are adapted to this marshy ground. On the riverbanks nearby are ash and alder trees.
Spital Field is the remains of a landscaped domestic rubbish tip that was in use in the 1970's. Elm, alder, lime, and cherry trees were planted alongside the railway. White poplar with its 'handkerchief-like' underside was planted on the slope. From the viewpoint you look over to the ash and oak woodland of Bromborough and Marfords Wood in the distance.

Twin Winona - near No 2 on your map. From this viewpoint you can sit down and look over the river and floodplain.

We have placed one of our small micros in one of the Twins. There is no , so please bring one and tweezers. Once you find the Twin with the micro in it, please take the micro out of the Twin and transfer it to the other Twin for the next cacher to find. Thank you.
Oh, and don't forget to sign the log. Please keep a good look-out for the muggles enjoying their walk in this lovely area aswell.
Please let us know if you found the cache in the 1st Twin you visited and did you enjoy your walk
Bottle of wine for the first cacher to e-mail me with the answer to "Why did I come up with these names for the Twins" Congratulations to lostnwet.
On your walkabout, you will be passing our other small geocache - Otters Tunnel.

Thanks again to the Senior Ranger, Mr Peter Miller, who has given us permission to set this geocache. Look out for the Nature Geocache Trail around this Nature Reserve coming out in early summer 2009.
