Geocache Description:

These falls have long been a local attraction, but the track is now little known, even to the locals. The track to the falls winds through rainforest alongside a bubbling stream. Allow three to four hours return for this walk to a scenic waterfall. You can hear the river for almost the duration of the walk, occasionally catching a glimpse as the track nears the river in places. Keep an eye out for lyrebirds and other small birds on the way.

To get to the start of the track, travel to Geeveston and through the centre of town to the Kermandie River Bridge, turning right into Kermandie River Road, then travel two kilometres from here to a fork in the road and a sign pointing to Hartz Walking Track and the falls on the left fork (going up the hill). This road becomes a little rough but should be okay with the average 2WD car and careful driving (but not with trailers in tow!), when you reach the end of the road at the river there is a small parking area on the left. There are spurs to the left but if you remember to keep to the right you will soon be at the final turnoff (marked with pink tape) that runs down to the parking area.
There are other descriptions for reaching the falls, but it is unlikely the walk in would be as enjoyable from any other route. Indeed, at time of listing, Forestry Tasmania has barred public access via other roads.

The walk starts on a steep track on the left heading down to the river (a water pipe can been seen on your right), cross here and follow the old logging road until you arrive at a new logging road which cuts through the original track, cross here and head right to the concrete bridge, pick up the old logging track again just before and on the left of the bridge (the sign is obvious) and walk to the end of the road. Look for the coloured tapes tied to the trees and pick up a track on the left which heads up hill to the falls.
Good walking boots are essential as there are several boggy sections and it is wet and slippery on the descent to the falls. A walking stick is also handy in this terrain (plenty of natural ones around).
Interestingly, there is a camping area by the creek just before the start of the track.
GPSr accuracy is not fantastic around the falls so it may pay to use the hint when searching for the cache.
A word of warning: The track is a little indistinct in places and there are fallen trees over the track that you need to clamber over so care should be taken if you have no bush-walking experience. There are coloured markers (yellow, pink and red) placed at intervals so watch carefully for these if the track becomes faint. The distance for the walk to the falls (3.5 km one way) and is significantly longer than the signposted 2.5km. If you relish the way of the path less traveled, if you desire to journey like Indiana Jones to that first temple, then this may be for you!
