Whilst Kayaking up one of the rivers off lake Waikerenoana one of our group discovered a very unusualy fossil. Is it a moa egg.....you tell me ?
This fossil can be reached by kayaking from the Motor Camp boat ramp and it is very easy to paddle up stream. Have marked a suitable for kids but that is in the kayak's with adults paddling. Our group took 4 kids aged 4-8.
The alternative is to walk a track on the far side of the river from the visitor centre ans swim accross the river (certainly not swift or wide when we were there - average swimmer would have no problems)
