This cache is in memory of Brandy, our Golden Retriever. Our’s is a familiar story. We decided to get a dog for our kids but she quickly became more than just a dog. She became family, our companion and loyal friend. Whenever I could I would bring Brandy up into the Virginia Highlands to run and explore. In her younger years I would let her run in front of the truck while I followed. At every fork in the road she would stop and wait for me to catch up and anxiously await my signal. No matter where I pointed she would race off in that direction and wait for me at the next intersection. As she got older she could no longer run the roads but she did enjoy riding in the back and smelling the breezes. She never tired of this area and looked forward to coming up here even near the end.
The cache is placed in “Brandy Territory”, not far from where she is resting today. It contains doggy swag including treats for the first two dogs. There is water for your thirsty pooch and a bowl. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THE BOWL. LEAVE IT FOR THE NEXT CACHE HOUND. I will attempt to keep the cache stocked with water so, please, let me know if the supply is getting low.
High clearance 4x4 is recommended especially in the winter. After "Brandy" go on down the road to other quality caches including "Whale Spout".
This is the eighth cache in a series dedicated to those of you who get up in the middle of the night or in the wee hours of the morning to snag first to finds.
There is a First to Find trophy and Geocoin in the cache. If you are the First to Find you MUST agree to take the trophy and Geocoin and put them in a new cache that you place and publish within two weeks from the date of your find (Note – extenuating circumstances will be considered). The new cache should be called “FTF - Tag you are it! # 9.” The new cache should have the same requirements as this one and lead to “FTF - Tag you are it! # 10.” You get the pattern. Your new cache can be any type of cache that you want.
Please do not even attempt to be FTF unless you are willing to continue the string. Failure to continue the string (or at least give a good excuse) will lead to your log being deleted. There are no special logging requirements for subsequent finders.
