Geocache Description:

An uphill walk to where the paths meet.

This cache was originally placed by Scarabs who have now moved away. I have adopted it to keep it going as its a lovely walk and has special permission from the Forestry Commission. This cache can be approached from different directions, but is hidden near where two paths meet (see photo). We started our walk from The George pub in Eartham and approached from the south and discovered lovely views across the Sussex countryside. You can look south towards Bognor Regis and the sea. To the west (once in the woods) views past the Millenium Beacon towards Eartham are particularly stunning. Through Eartham Woods, to the north, is the ancient Roman road Stane Street. From the cache you can also easily reach the folly on the top of the hill, also with wonderful views. You can also park at the Forestry Commission Eartham Woods car park (N50° 53.269 W00° 39.977) and walk to the cache from the west. The car park has a number of picnic benches available. Either way involves uphill walking so this cache is not recommended for younger children. We placed the cache in January and it was quite wet and muddy so we would recommend welly boots. Even in the Summer walking boots would be recommended as the ground is quite uneven and flinty. Along the way we encountered pheasant and quite a few deer. You are looking for a small plastic clip-box container wrapped in grey duct tape.
