Lake Ainsworth is a unique area as it is only some 50 metres from the Pacific Ocean, yet it is a fresh water lake. The tea colour of the water comes from the roots of the ti-trea (tea-tree) tanins leaching from the treas that surround the lake. It is a very popular swimming and holiday spot most of the year round. The fresh water is reputed to contain qualities that have rejuvenating properties and beneficial for your health.
The cache is located next to the lake. It contains a pencil and log. Only a small amount of room for swaps.
It is recommended that you park at S28° 47.027 E153° 35.364 and then enjoy a short easy walk along the lake to the cache.
