Geocache Description:

A short hike and just off the trail

The Burnett Brook Natural Area was once owned by Stirling Tomkins. It was his desire to preserve the land as open space and protect Mendham’s natural, rural character.

The park has a large pond and one mile loop trail which circles the pond fed by the Burnett Brook. There are the remains of an old shale quarry and a notable geologic feature is the Peapack Fault which runs through the park.

The park objective is to preserve great opportunities for hiking, photography, healthy exercise, observing nature, and relaxation. Hiking is easy and the park is a great favorite with children and nature photographers.

Caution: The area can be quite muddy at times. Wear boots.
