There is History Hidden Here!
Not far from the shopping centers and restaurants lies a piece of history. The assault by the Hessians in the Battle of Red Bank (October 22, 1777) resulted in their retreat when over 400 of their forces were killed. Those who perished were buried at the site of the battle but latter moved and interred in Woodbury at the "Strangers-Burying-Ground" . That property was condemned around 1915 and the graves were moved to this location. This graveyard dates back to the mid 1770's and was used for strangers passing through the area as well as those who did not belong to many of the religious communities and therefore could not be buried in the respective church graveyards. Enjoy your visit and be respectful of the rich history represented here. If you see some trash please take it with you. The cache is not within the graveyard. The location is within the boundaries of a residential area and night caching is not advised. Parking for one car is available by pulling off the main road. Please be careful crossing the street and be aware of traffic.
