Geocache Description:


Abbot Mountain already holds a great cache lower down the mountain but we felt that the trip to the top is well worth the extra work for a great view. Why not be able to score a few more smiley faces up there.
So 88seriesIII, IAMSURVIVORMAN and I decided to place some more up here today.

The mountain can be acessed from a few different routs, We happend to snowshoe to the top from the trail head located on GRAY Rd. parking Coords for this location are listed on this page as well. This entire range of small peaks offers a great place to snowshoe The forest for the most part is very open, so bushwacking is fairly easy around these peaks. We spent a good part of the day just wandering around scouting the area. We set up a few other caches today as well. I wont say that this set of caches is Winter Friendly all the time but if you like a demanding snowshoe trip they should be available all year unless the snow is really deep.

If you are into ATVing the base of the Abbot mountain can be reached from the SQUARE POND ATV CLUB TRAILS.
However you will still need to hike to the cache's located at the top. NO ATV's ALLOWED to climb Abbot Mountain anymore... SORRY, but it is still a great set of trails. There are other Caches located on this trail network as well. It makes for a fun day of ATV'ing hiking or Mountain biking.

We strongly reccomend that you bring a lunch and enjoy the fine views of the Presidentials from the top.

The top is fairly open and several view points are located around the top, The cache is not on a particular trail but the short bushwack to the cache is wide open and an easy walk with a slight drop in elevation to GZ
