Geocache Description:

Another in the Warrnambool Foreshore series of caches...

Near GZ, you will notice a number of unusual-looking dome structures in rather delapidated condition, as well as a ratty old toilet block a bit further away.

This used to be the Warrnambool Aquarium (the domes, that is). We're not exactly sure when it opened, but Mr O remembers it running until the late 1980s/early 90s. In any case, since it closed, the site, being prime real estate as it is, has been a source of constant debate among developers and the council, and many suggestions and plans have been made for its redevelopment over the years. Those plans now look set to go ahead, but it's anybody's guess when it'll happen.

With this cache you can remember the domes as they are now, and record the progress of the developments by uploading photos of the area. They may be ugly, but like the now-demolished Lady Bay Hotel which was nearby, they shouldn't be forgotten.

Container is a small waterproof cylindrical container with notebook, pencil and a couple of small swaps. During winter months and king tides, this spot may get difficult to access, being in reasonably close proximity to the water, so you may need to be selective about what time of year to visit. And remember to keep a close eye on geokids when near GZ.
