Geocache Description:

Located on an island in Damascus. Small camo taped container. BYOP !

As you are crossing the newly remolded bridge in Damascus the cache is on the island the bridge is standing on. You can park at different places and walk out on the bridge and down the old steps. The cache is located 18 paces away from the base of the steps.A pace is two steps. You can dertimine your pace by laying out a 100 ft. tape and start at one end. Walk normal. Take the first step without counting now the second step will be one pace. Count that way to the end of the tape. Devide the number of paces (2 steps) it takes into 100ft. and that will give you the number of feet in your pace. My pace is 6.5 ft.
The cache container is screw cap Tupperware bottle, It is magnetic in nature.

In 1968 myself and three other Scouts were hiking the AT and stopped on this island and slept in the old building you will see close to the cache as we passed through Damascus while doing out fifty mile badge.

Only time you may not be able to get to the cache is during a huge flood joining the river togather over the island.
