Geocache Description:

The above coordinates are not those of the cache; they are for the parking. Please read the description of this cache thoroughly before heading out. The container is a 30 caliber ammo box.

The Welcome
I am happy that I can resurrect the Sleepy Hollow Night Cache. It was an early favorite of mine that was unfortunately archived. I was unable to adopt this cache before it got archived, so those of you who found it before get (almost) a freebie. I am using the the same reflectors that where there before, except I changed the final to make it less prone to muggling. I am also using the cool piece of wood that was hiding the original.

The Park
Canyon Creek Park is an 8.28 acre community park in Wilsonville with only 1.41 acres of that being developed. A powerline easement passes through the site, which is located near the Boeckman Creek headwaters. You can learn more by visiting the park's website.

The Hours
The park has signs posted that state: "Park Closed From Dusk to Dawn". This would normally pose a serious problem for a night cache. However, I have contacted the City of Wilsonville and they tell me that the signs are designed to give police the ability to kick large groups of people out of the park and assure me that they have no problems with two or three geocachers at a time out there poking around with flashlights. If you plan on having a group any larger than that or if you have any questions about this aspect of the cache, please call the City of Wilsonville, Community Services at 503-682-3727.

The Parking
Canyon Creek Park is tucked between residential areas and it is important that you park at these coordinates: N 45° 19.658 W 122° 45.386. If you find that these two spots are full, you may also park in the neighborhood at these coordinates: N 45° 19.577 W 122° 45.338. The parking spots that you find near the start of the cache are for the private use of the neighborhood residents and should be avoided by geocachers.

The Hunt
Start at these coordinates: N 45° 19.640 W 122° 45.321. Follow the reflectors by stopping at one and looking for another. They are between 7 to 9 feet off the ground on tree trunks and some spots my require you to walk a little further down the trail to see the next reflector but never if the path splits. When you come to a tree with two reflectors, one about an inch above the other one, stop, look around and smile.

The Prerequisites
You will need the following:
   1. A powerful flashlight
   2. 30 to 45 minutes
   3. Stealth
   4. A sense of adventure...have fun!
