THE TERRAIN/DIFFICULTY RATING HAS BEEN
INCREASED A LITTLE FOR THE SUMMER MONTHS, DUE TO THE THORNS AND
NETTLES NEAR GZ.
This cache is one of three of ours, set alongside the
"Clackmannan Way" cycle route, (this 11 mile route actually goes by
two main names - "The Clackmannan Way" and "The West Fife Cycle
Way"). This part of the cycle route takes you along a section of
what used to be the Alloa-Dunfermline railway, with some good views
of the surrounding countryside.
The cycle route itself is absolutely flat and has been completely
tarmacced. Unfortunately though, the actual location
of the cache itself is unsuitable for strollers/wheelchairs (direct
access to the cache wouldn't be possible). Hence the terrain rating
of 1.5.
Stealth will be needed at times as this is a very popular path with
dog walkers, cyclists (off course lol), horse riders and joggers.
At the time of placing, the co-ords were accurate to within 15
feet.
Parking is available at N 56 06.779 W 003 44.379 (a disused,
dead-end road, near the old Clackmannan railway bridge).
It's probably easier to try for this one in
Autumn/Winter because the area around GZ can be very dense with
thorns/nettles etc., during the late Spring and Summer
months.
The cache is a small 200ml screw-top container in a camo bag,
with room for very small swaps, geocoins etc.
The original contents were:
Logbook, two small pencils and a stash card (all in a ziploc
bag).
The swaps/swag were: Bottle opener, Mickey Mouse fridge magnet,
RSPB "Puffin" pin badge, geocaching keyring.
