Geocache Description:

A small lock & lock box along a bridleway near Old Warden airfield.

This cache, one of a series of caches celebrating the aircraft of the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden, is on a bridleway just outside the airfield boundary, and on the Old Warden Circular Walk.

The series has a bonus cache: each cache contains a letter/number combination that you'll need to find the bonus.

Some waypoints for parking, and a suggested route around the series, are given on the page for the bonus cache (GC1Q0ME (visit link) )

On 25th July 1909, Louis Bleriot became the first person to cross the English Channel in an aeroplane.

The Shuttleworth Collection's Bleriot XI (constructor's number 14) is similar to that machine, and is the World's oldest flying aeroplane (with the earliest aero engine in flying condition). You can see the Bleriot at the collection all year round, and flying (if the wind's suitable) at Shuttleworth air displays, held approximately fortnightly May to October.

The path to the south of the cache goes through a field that sometimes contains cows. The area around the gate out to the College Road gets very muddy! If you have a pram and it's been raining, you'll find it easier to approach from the north.

Amenities: The Shuttleworth Collection has a cafe, gift shop and toilets, there's a pub that serves food in Old Warden village, and a farm shop in Upper Caldecote.
