A beautiful pond in western Maine.
I thought that I would combine two of my favorite outdoor sports into one this winter. That is Geocaching and Ice Fishing. Both sports have brought me to some beautiful places.
My eleventh ice fishing geocache for 2009 is at Lovewell Pond in the town of Fryeburg. The other ice fishing caches are as follows: first Cold Rain Pond GC1KFT4, second Worthley Pond GC1KGXC, third Horne (Pequawket) Pond GC1KVV0, fourth at Robson (Woods) Pond (GC1MFAZ), fifth Bunganut Pond GC1MBFN, sixth Sand Pond (GC1MFEN), seventh Keoka Lake (GC1MFFK), eighth Anonymous Pond (GC1MFG5), ninth at Hancock Pond (GC1MFGH), and the tenth at Christopher Lake (AKA Bryant Pond) (GC1MQRV).
Lovewell Pond is a beautiful one thousand and sixty five acre lake with a maximum depth of 45 feet. According to Maine IFW, the pond was stocked with 600 12” Brown Trout in 2008.

The cache is a lock n lock with assorted swag, log book, and pencil.
Directions:
Take RTEs 5/113 north towards Fryeburg. Before you enter the town there will be a boat ramp sign on the right. The road down to the boat ramp can be accessed currently by a 4x4. I would not take a regular vehicle down the road. If you decide to park near the boat ramp sign and walk in it is a little more than .5 of a mile.
