The Rhinns of Kells are regarded as a 'must do' range of hills
providing a wonderful ridge traverse in the heart of Galloway. The
views in all directions are quite stunning with the rugged Dungeon
Hills being viewed from a most advantageous position. It must be
appreciated however that this is a proper mountain walk
necessitating the carrying of proper clothing and food and of
course the wearing of stout footwear. No matter which route you
choose for your walk, it is likely to be wet at times underfoot, so
gaiters are highly recommended.
We suggest a horseshoe circular route from the parking area at
(NX553862) in the Forrest Estate. The actual walking distance is
17.5km, and it will undoubtedly be one of the best walks you'll
ever do in Galloway. For full details of our route description -

to download this route direct to your GPS.
Watch out for other caches in the Galloway Forest Park by
Galloway MRT with the support of Forestry Commission Scotland
(Galloway District).
Option - Notify Galloway MRT of your walk route when you
do this cache.
NOTE:- You are strongly advised to view the spoiler for this
cache as we wouldn't like you to go all this way and record a DNF.
The summit is pretty featureless despite the rugged terrain all
around!
